What to Expect During Your First Sugaring Session

Shorts season, festivals, and bikini weather is just around the corner! Prep ahead of time and book your sugaring session for silky, smooth skin. Get ready to say goodbye to pesky razor bumps! If this is your first time getting sugared, I know it can be a little intimidating and nerve-wracking. That’s why I compiled this guide to answer your questions and put your nerves at ease.

Comfortable & Stress-Free Experience

I strive to create a comfortable, approachable, and calming atmosphere for all of my clients! It is so important that every client feels welcome and trusted in my studio. If you’re getting a bikini or Brazilian wax, I know it can be intimidating and a little uncomfortable at first, but once we start chatting, your worries will fade. Trust me, I have seen and sugared it all so don’t let your insecurities or worries stop you. We’re all beautiful and deserve a little pampering from time to time!

Prior to Your Appointment

Before your appointment, make sure to let your hair grow out about 1/4 inch so the sugar is able to grab onto the hairs. Gently exfoliate and shower before your appointment to ensure your skin is prepped and ready. I do my part to prep before each client as well. I clean and sanitize my studio, prep the sugar, and get fresh tools before every session.

What to Expect During

When you arrive, I’ll address any questions or concerns you may have and we’ll get started. I’ll have you undress as needed and lay on my sugaring table. I’ll start by cleansing the skin and adding powder to avoid any irritation. Then I’ll grab a nice ball of sugar and get to work! Unlike waxing, the sugar is not hot which lessens irritation and redness, which we love. I apply the sugar against the hair follicle growth and quickly pull it with the grain of your hair for the smoothest results. I use the same ball of sugar throughout the whole process so no double-dipping or cross-contamination. Once each and every hair is sugared off, I’ll apply a soothing aloe Vera gel to soothe and cool. Now off you go with freshly sugared skin!

Post-Sugaring Session

After your sugaring session, you may experience a little redness or sensitivity for a day or two following the appointment, but it’ll subside shortly. To soothe your skin and avoid irritation, bumps, etc., I highly recommend purchasing and applying Tend Skin or Fur Oil to the sugared skin for about 3-5 days after your appointment. I also recommend avoiding hot tubs, pools, and any chemical or fragrance based skin products for a few days as well so your skin heals beautifully.
